Please note that I offer free initial consultations for patients contemplating cataract surgery.

I am a highly experienced Ophthalmic Surgeon and a local surgeon living and practicing in Nottingham. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery with specific post qualification training to optimise clinical outcomes. Additionally, I am a GMC Expert Witness, Specialty Advisor to the CQC, and PSIRF Medical Ambassador for Spire Hospitals. Having published a training book for Ophthalmologists entitled ‘Training in Ophthalmology’, a Glaucoma textbook entitled ‘Shared Care Glaucoma’ and a textbook for GPs entitled ‘Ophthalmology in Primary Care’. I have recently authored a textbook entitled ‘Complaints, Litigation and Clinical Errors’. I was formerly Glaucoma Lead at a local Teaching Hospital.

I undertake more than a thousand cataract procedures a year with complication rates far below the national average. I am not an early adopter of innovative technologies but instead wait until the technology has been established as safe and efficacious. I routinely use premium lenses but careful about which lens to use and individualises care to the needs of the patient. With exclusive access to the Zeiss Callisto Suite automated alignment computer assisted microscope for my toric (astigmatism correcting) intraocular lenses thereby facilitating optimised outcomes.

I also have a Masters in Medical Law and am arguably the foremost Ophthalmology Medicolegal expert in the country regularly running seminars and lecturing for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

I offer cataract surgery combined with minimally invasive glaucoma surgery for appropriate patients. I also offer laser treatment to cloudy capsules and also for glaucoma in the form of SLT.

My Doctify has more than 135 reviews with a 4.97 rating out of 5 and a 5 start rating on Top Doctors. I have published more than 40 pieces in the world literature.

In 2020 I was crowned UK Ophthalmologist of the Year by Global 100 and recently awarded Midlands Ophthalmologist of the Year 2023 by Global Health Pharma.

I enjoy playing chess (particularly online), however my enthusiasm is not matched by my skill. I am a family man and love spending time with the children although they often drive me crazy.

A keen hobby of mine is fiction writing. I have written several short stories and also published two novels, both of which are in print and in the top 200,000 best sellers on Amazon.co.uk!
